Preparations for the Big 5-0!

In between big events in our family, Steve has continued to work on his home improvement projects. He made this cart for one of his saws in the barn so that he can move it around by himself.  So creative.  It works great.  After that he put wheels on the big table.  That was an even bigger job and it took efforts of several neighbors to put it upright again.
On July 14, 2020, we were allowed to join Britton for the setting apart for his mission by President Zollinger.  It was a wonderful, inspirational meeting and we felt privileged to be there.  Early on July 15th, Britton began his home MTC training.

Below Steve is preparing the garage for the epoxy coating he intends to put on the floor.  This is a project that will take several days and includes washing, etching, grinding because we put a sealer on when we first moved in (big mistake), applying several epoxy coats and a final clear coat on top!
Tiffany and Abigail drove all the way from Texas to Providence with Charlie and arrived on the 21st to help with preparations for our big 50th Anniversary/Reunion celebration the first weekend in August.  When Charlie got over the fright of so many people, he adapted quite well.  His a cute little thing.
It seems that everybody loves Charlie.  Charlie loves Abigail!
On July 22 and 23, we were in SL for various appointments.  It gave me the opportunity to meet with Steve, Cathy and Greg to celebrate Greg's birthday on the 23rd.

It's kind of fun having our missionary for dinner while he is at home MTC!  Yay!

It's always fun to watch Abigail getting her hair done by our fun friend, Tonya, in CV.

Tiffany surprised us on the morning of our anniversary, July 30, with scones from a local favorite restaurant, Angie's to help us celebrate the day.  Mostly the day was spent getting ready for the big gathering.
Steve checks out the final coating of the garage floor before we leave for about 1 week. It's looking good!
July 31, 2020 Tiffany, Abigail and Charlie left for St. George in their own vehicle.  We left not too long afterwards.  When we arrived in St. George, we went directly to the furnished rental property  where Taylor's family is staying during the covid summer.  We found this group of cousins playing games together and having a great time.  It was a delightful discovery.  McKay's family is staying in a condo owned by Tricia's parents.
We had arranged a VRBO rental to share with Liberty and Tiffany's family so we could visit with them and make final preparations for our reunion on Sunday evening.
Fortunately we connected with Cases and Salters at that townhouse that evening at 5 p.m. They had been visiting Jeff's family in the Vegas area.  Shawn also flew into Las Vegas and rented a car there.
