Week Day Visit

 This week we were fortunate to have a weekday visit from Heather and Aaron's family as they traveled through our area on their way to a family vacation.  It's kind of tight in our little condo, but  but everyone makes the most of it.  It was also great that Steve arrived back from Alaska in time to see everyone.  They will stop by again on their way back and I'm hopeful we will have a little more time together.

 On Saturday we had a little break from the rain so we purchased some trees and bushes to plant in our yard.  The soil is extremely rocky so Steve really had to work hard at it--you can see it took a pick axe.

 Korinne and her friend, Kara, helped me plant bulbs and pansies in the front yard.  The whole time we were working outside, my brother, Steve, was cleaning the inside of our house in his usual immaculate fashion.  What a blessing to have a spotless home for a few hours.
I left both of the Steves working hard and attended the R.S. Women's broadcast at the stake center.  It was such a spiritual lift.  When the prophet speaks, I just want to try harder to do my part and to be a true disciple of Christ.

 We enjoyed attending church and having Steve join us. Thank you Steve K. for all of your hard work this weekend.  Your visit was not only delightful it was downright awesome! Jameson enjoys playing with his water and getting it all over when he eats.  We did our best to protect him from his mess.

Do we live for the weekends?

 It seems like we work hard at our jobs during the week but our blog lives take place on the weekends.  Last weekend we got to spend a little time with Taylor who was in the US on business.
He spoiled us with a lovely dinner at a local CV Italian Restaurant.
On Saturday, Steve sealed the driveway and mowed his weeds plus some grass.  I had a referral for CV so I showed houses and then canned some more peaches.  We love our Sunday dinners with Hilary and Adam's family.  Having Taylor there too made it extra fun.

The cousins enjoyed seeing Will and June on FaceTime. 

We all loved one more chance to eat peach dessert.  Yum! The peaches have been absolutely delicious this year.  Love, love them!

Not too old for Mary Poppins

 A couple of weeks ago, Steve invited me to drive to St. George with him for meetings.  We drove down on Wednesday and got tickets for a Tuacahn production that night of Mary Poppins.  We always enjoy the live theater productions there.  It started raining late that afternoon and we didn't know if it would stop for the show.  We went over anyway and hung out in the rain.  The show was delayed for 30 minutes and then they started it.  We enjoyed 30 or 40 minutes and it started raining heavily again.  They stopped the show for another 30 minutes.  Then they had to sweep all the water off the stage so the performers wouldn't get hurt.

 We shared a rain poncho that Steve keeps in the truck.  We were so happy that we had it.  We really weren't expecting rain at all according to the forecast.  With all of the delays, the show didn't end until about 11:30 but the performers really entertained us well.  It was delightfully well done. It was fun to spend time with my sweetheart.  I had enough work to do that I really didn't get a lot of time to read.  That is one of the best parts of my job, working and traveling at the same time. 

As you can see, we enjoyed the singing in the rain.

Green & White Delight!

 Saturday we painted the final coat on the garage!  We were happy that the second coat took less time that the first.  That left us with some time between rainstorms for Steve to mow the weeds and grass and me to pull some of the tall weeds around the rock walls. 

 As the rain continued we started canning a batch of peaches.  We haven't canned peaches for a few years but a local store had an excellent price on some really great peaches.  This was our first batch.  We will do more next week.

 We both love the bright, clean, white garage with only a few items to be stored in it.  Before winter comes, we hope to coat the floors too.

 Sunday after church we drove back to the city to pick Taylor up from the airport.  He will be in the USA for a week for meetings associated with his work.  Lucky for us!

The Rest of the Weekend

 You know we can't have a weekend that is all play and no work so Saturday morning we got up and put our heart and soul into painting a coat of primer paint on the garage. Steve had been cleaning and preparing for this for a couple of weekends.  We finished just in time to rinse ourselves off and hop in the car to drive 2 1/2 hours to Midway for a family wedding reception. 

 Using the plug in the truck proved to be a big timesaver.  I wasn't sure if my curling iron would use too much electricity and blow the circuit but it didn't.  Success!
The reception was for Michael and Allison.  Michael is the son of my cousin Liz.  It was an opportunity for me to see cousins on my mother's side of the family that I rarely see.

 Here's my Uncle Bill with his current wife, Jean.  He is the last living spouse on my mother's side.  All of the other siblings and spouses have passed away.

 Here are two of my cousins, Liz and her sister Debbie.  Growing up, we spent a lot of time with these cousins as our mothers, Aloha and Yvonne, were very close.

 Here are my cousins, Brad and Vickie and Vickie's husband Michael.  They are children of my Aunt Wanda who was also very close to my mother.
Here is my cousin Liz, the mother of the groom, with Steve.  It was chilly and rainy so we were very happy that they had a big tent.  Steve decided to drive all the way back to CV that night so it made for a very long day.  We were tired.  We worked and played all we could in one weekend.

It's Miller Time!

 Our children generously gave us tickets to the Miller Big Band "In The Mood" dinner show in honor of Steve's 65th birthday.  We were so excited to step back in time and enjoy the music of the 1940's.  On our way north to attend the show last Friday evening, we stopped by BC to check out Peach Days, a local festival that has been a tradition for many years.  It was our first time to eat peach pulled pork salad.  It was really pretty good.  Of course, they had lots of dishes made with peaches.  Our other hit was the peach cinnamon dutch oven cobbler with ice cream. We bought one item after checking out all of the artisan booths.  It was a big magnetic wall hanging to put above my desk and post photos of our grandkids.  Keep those photos coming as I now have a classy place to display them.

We loved the Miller Band show that evening.  We didn't realize that there would be dancing.  Next year we will be sure to wear our dancing shoes.  Even though we wore the wrong shoes, we did a fox trot and a cha cha.  We haven't danced in a long time. It was a delightful evening.  Thanks to everyone for the tickets. 

Swiss Days, Labor Day, Birthday, Happy Day!

 Steve and I worked hard the last week of August after everyone had returned home as we had weekend plans.  We had talked for a couple of years about returning to a tradition of former years and going up to Heber Valley for Swiss Days.  We left fairly early for Swiss Days but found out it was not early enough to miss the crowds.  The celebration has really grown in the past few years.  Now booths line the streets outside of the park as well.  We were there before 9 a.m. and it was already shoulder to shoulder crowds. Wow!  We managed to check out most of the booths, chat with a few friends, purchase a beloved Robert Duncan painting called "Looking For Spring", eat a fabulous sauerkraut brat lunch and be on our way home by about noon.  We loved the celebration but it was hot and crowded!

 Saturday, Steve diligently mowed our weeds for the first time in the yard, cleaned the garage and detailed the white pickup.  Boy does the truck look nice.  In addition to household chores, I did some extra meal preparation as we were notified that Heather and Aaron's family were coming down after church on Sunday to celebrate Aaron's birthday and spend the night.  Then they had plans to go to Lagoon for a family outing on Labor Day. 

 We had fun celebrating Aaron's birthday with his favorite "Grandma Annie's ribs" and peach dessert.

 After dinner while the kids played dress up and other activities, the adults enjoyed a foot massage with a vintage l950's foot vibrator that belonged to my Dad.  It is in perfect condition and was still in the box.  It was quite the hit.  We'll save it so others can enjoy the experience.

 Our neighbor, Carrie, also brought over a new machine which will measure your bodies' nutritional needs to create balance for optimal health.  I think that it what it does.  Anyway, many of us got checked out and now we know what oils we need to add to our bodies for better balance.  We had a fun evening also discussing our "Dressing For Truth" personalities.  We had fun trying to guess which which personality we are, either 1, 2, 3, or 4.  We felt enlightened and well fed.  We also laughed a lot.

 The next morning we woke up to rain.  Here's hoping the rain will subside enough for the M family to enjoy their trip to Lagoon.  In the meantime, the girls were dancing in the rain.

 It was still raining when Heather and Aaron left but I think the sun came out for most of the day.
