Sunday after the "Big Wedding" McKay's family and Jen and kids arrived in CV. We are ready for a new round of fun.
I love to get the kids husking corn and Steve loves to eat it.
We have a lot of corn in the summer.
The girls spent a lot of time taking an inventory of all of our DVD's and VHS videos. Korinne even figured out how to connect the VHS player so they watched a few "old" movies this past week.
Dinner with a big group is always fun. Everyone loves ice cream for dessert.
Jenna taught Cameron some ballroom dance steps. That was fun to observe.
Preston keeps everybody hopping as he moves so quickly. He is super fun and very entertaining too.
He is learning so many new English words. He mixes English, Chinese and Gibberish but gets his point across.
Cameron and McKay assisted Steve in moving our huge round table down to the shop for refinishing. Cameron and Steve brought Grandma June's oak table up to the kitchen for now. It works just fine in the space.
McKay started helping Jen put a new bike together. He ended up pretty much doing it. Jen was thrilled.
Kids loved watching a couple of old movies.
AJ and Jameson come over a lot. They don't want to miss out on any fun. Jameson and Will had an activities camp each day this week. June attended a gymnastics camp all week. It was a busy time.
The kids seemed to enjoy the spaghetti dinner we had one night. Jessica loved it-especially the bread.
One afternoon they did art projects with supplies furnished by Aunt Tiffany. We had a little scare when AJ got black paint all over himself but we were able to clean everything up. Thanks for getting washable paint, Tif.
McKay's friend, Jared, told him to check out Karie Anne's frozen dessert truck. We enjoyed a mixture of Italian ice and custard. It as pretty tasty. We will have to try it again on a hot day. It was rainy and cold the day we tried it and there weren't long lines. It is parked on the north end of town so fortunately it isn't very convenient for us!
Steve did a lot of little fix it projects around the house this week. Thanks, honey!
I made trips to the library so the kids could be involved in the summer reading program. I also enjoyed playing with Preston on the neighbor's new outdoor play equipment.
Preston wants to do everything the big kids do and then some. He was always trying to bring bikes or scooters up the steps and into the house.
One day while babysitting Preston, I tackled the pantry. This is the organized version so you can imagine what it was like before.
Preston and AJ have a love/hate relationship. They like to play together but there is definitely a bit of jealousy and they aren't the best at sharing.
Preston enjoyed a few walks with his grandma and grandma. He calls each of us "Grandma."
Towards the end of the week--I think it was Thursday night. Taylor invited some friends from Shanghai over for brats. Of course, we had a full dinner.
Allen, is a cyclist originally from Michigan who came to CV to race in the Grand Fondo. His wife is originally from Taiwan. They have two children. They are very nice people and we enjoyed getting to know them. He knows some other members of our church so we were able to answer some questions. They are also Christians with strong family values.
Our sunsets have been spectacular this summer!
Steve has been going to the physical therapist for pain in his back and hip. Here he tries some new stretches that will become part of his daily routine.
June did a final performance at her gymnastic's camp. Jen, Taylor, Preston and I were able to observe. She loved it.
Friday afternoon, Taylor raced in the time trial. He won his age group and the overall. TT is a very strong event for him.
Saturday, we headed out pretty early to watch the riders come in from the Grand Fondo. We didn't realize that there were so many categories. We watched lots of riders come in from 35, 50 and 75 miles while we waited for those who rode 105 miles. Both Taylor and McKay rode the 100+ course and did very well. Taylor had a flat so that kept him off from the podium. McKay wasn't too far behind Taylor but his group of riders had been mis-directed and missed a couple of miles of the course. Taylor met with the race director a week later so hopefully things will go better next year.
The kids loved all the free goodies and prizes that were handed out.
We were so proud of our excellent riders. McKay did extremely well on his first 100+ race and Taylor did very well too considering his flat. These guys are amazing. With the course mis-directions, I still don't know their actual placements, but they were ranked near the top.
That afternoon Hilary, Steve and I took most of the kids to a musical at Eccles Theatre called Newsies. It was very well done and we enjoyed the singing and dancing a lot.
Once again we enjoyed Sunday dinner together after church. We hung out together all afternoon and watched as the kids jumped and played. We knew that Monday morning would come soon and McKay's family would be leaving. We treasured the moments.
After sacrament meeting on Sunday the 28th, all the Price men posed for a photo in front of the church building. It was fun to have them altogether for a short time. Left to right are McKay, Cameron, Thomas, Steve, Will, Taylor and Preston.
We love the PA Prices and have thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. Thanks for the memories!
