It really is impossible for me to accurately describe the Thanksgiving celebration hosted by Steve's sister, Kathy and her husband, Brent. First there are the special aprons she had made for the cook's this year. Then there is her fabulous homemade candy including hand dipped chocolates. The rest of the food, including Adam's homemade rolls, turkey, dressing, yams, salads, fresh fruit and veggies, pounds and pounds of mashed potatoes and gravy. Did I mention Adam's homemade rolls and Dustin's homemade rootbeer? The list of yummy food goes on.
Then there's the fact that this year, we were joined by four of our six children-Taylor, Hilary, Heather and Tiffany and their families and three of Kathy's boys and their families. Just having so many of the family together is worth celebrating. We missed McKay and Liberty and their families but at least they were together in South Carolina.
This year we made a trip to the cemetery. We were joined by Steve and Kathy's only full cousin, Janet. Since Bill and June started this whole Thanksgiving tradition we carry on, we felt it was appropriate to honor them.
Then there's the annual trip to the bowling alley and the pinata and the fireworks. After all of that, we have to eat again. Wow! What a celebration! Then the shoppers head out for the bargains that evening. Some of Kathy's kids stay up and shop all night. Our side of the family skips the shopping until morning and heads for Heather and Aaron's home for more visiting.
Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention another round of Happy Birthday for Korinne!
The next morning before we headed south, the ladies made a visit to the Rexburg Temple. There's nothing like a temple visit to say thank you to a loving Father for such a wonderful celebration and the opportunity to have so many family members together to enjoy it. Thanks to the dads for babysitting. Early Saturday morning we dropped Shawn, Tiffany and Abigail off at the airport for their trip back to Texas. We loved having them join us for Thanksgiving in 2012.
