We have a pattern but I wouldn't call it a routine just yet. We work all week and head up north to work on our house there for the weekend. Most weekends we see progress. This rock wall next to Taylor's vacant lot should improve his value. The best part for the future owner is that it will be all done and paid for.
They are going to build several other rock walls since our lot is so sloped. There will be one across the back yard too.
Last Saturday, Britton wanted to go to the car show in Macey's parking lot. Steve and I wanted to have the bratwurst lunch they advertised for $3. We all got what we wanted. We saw the vintage cars, ate bratwurst, potato salad, chips and drinks. In addition they gave out free cotton candy and creamie ice cream bars. Britton, Jenna and Korinne had a ball.
Next we had to set up the new bouncy house I bought for my upcoming Flag Day breakfast. Adam did it single handed so we have assurance that it will work for my event.
Steve also hooked up his new barbeque grill on the deck. We are ready for summer now!
The week just flew by with my work and preparations for the big Flag Day Breakfast I host every year for my clients. I have it on the Saturday closest to Flag Day. This year the weather was perfect. We were thrilled about that. We were up early to get everything set up and ready. We had a few glitches--some trouble with the griddle at first, trying to thaw frozen omlettes and a loss of power to the bouncy house but in the end the issues were resolved and we had a record turn out.
Steve's sister, Kathy and her husband, Brent, with Cole and Oakley,popped by for a surprise visit just before it started. We were still resolving problems so they were offered cold eggs. We had no idea they were in town from Idaho. It was fun to see them.
My sister, Cathy and her husband, Clay, rode their bikes clear across town to support us. And of course, my brother, Steve, is a regular member of our breakfast crew. I don't know how we could put this together without his help. Thanks, Steve!
The bouncy house and the fish pond were a hit with the children. Britton, Jenna and Korinne were great helpers taking charge of these activities.
Clean up was faster this year and we collected quite a bit of food for the food bank. We were happy about that!
We drove north for Saturday night and Sunday but have been too tired to do much work. We did use our new grill and the basement kitchen for the first time as we had Hilary, Adam and family over for Father's Day dinner. The temperature reached 88 degrees today and we didn't even have to turn on the air conditioning. Even though I baked the ribs for 2 hours this am, the house was pleasant. The basement was very comfortable when we ate our dinner about 5:45. Hooray.
Jameson loves to have his picture taken and he loves the rocking horses. Britton made a fabulous batch of chocolate chip cookies. I'm not kidding. They were scrumptious!!!
Happy Father's Day. Steve loved getting calls from all of his kids today. We appreciate your thoughtfulness. Tonight about dusk we went for a beautiful walk along the foothill up above the houses. We discovered a paved walking path up there. The view is spectacular and we love being so close to nature just around the corner from our home. Every week, we like this place more!
