Last weekend we canned sauerkraut. This weekend we ate sauerkraut. Our little community has a traditional sauerkraut turkey dinner each year at the end of harvest. This year they not only provided a delicious dinner but provided entertainment as well. Here are the Swiss singers who sang in German. They also had a couple of Swiss buglers who blew on those long curved horns. That was fun to see.
I was the only one in our group who chose the turkey. The others chose brats but ended up with hot dogs as they ran out of brats. Our friend who supervised the teenage servers, gave us a nice container of leftovers so we enjoyed those yesterday. The sauerkraut was delish!
We spent our time on Saturday, preparing our flower bed for spring, planting iris, lilacs and rhubarb. We get excited about having a yard again. Of course Steve mowed the grass until he ran out of gasoline. The neighbor loaned us his rototiller which was very helpful.
Steve and I were fortunate enough to attend one of Britton's soccer games. The weather was pleasant which helped and his game was local which also made a big difference. He travels all kinds of places to play soccer in his league.
After the soccer game, we went to a house warming party for one of our new neighbors. It was nice to meet a few more people in the neighborhood. It is a bit challenging to get acquainted with those who don't attend our church as most activities seem to center around the church. We enjoyed meeting several families who were new to us.
You will note that I mostly blog about our weekends. That is due to the fact that during the week, we just work and there's not much to talk about that.

Ok, I get the work during the week thing, but it looks like work on the weekend too. Steve is really working on your yard. It looks really nice. I am hoping to get down to see it sometime in person.
