Will really wanted to purchase and eat some of this chicken on a stick sold by a street vendor. Jen just wasn't comfortable with it. Neither were we.
Fakeberry was the interesting name of this shop in the artsy market.
One night, Jen and Taylor got a sitter and we went for a foot massage. The Chinese really work your feet hard. It wasn't a gentle experience. My girl kept telling me to "relax" as I would tighten up when she pushed so hard. One man cut the dead skin from my heals and cut Steve's toenails with a very sharp blade of steel. He was very skilled.
We had another nice dinner at this Element Fresh restaurant. Taylor and Jen have discovered some really fine restaurants with wonderful food.
June was often my kitchen helper. She likes to cook.
Most bakery goodies turned out to be disappointing. Chinese baked goods aren't all that yummy even in the expensive bakeries.
Will at indoor soccer practice. The kids take swimming lessons too.
Jen cuts up a lot of fruit and vegetables and sets it out for a snack for the kids. We enjoyed it too--especially the mangos and pomelos.
We took Will and June to a playground in their complex. In addition to playground equipment, there were these exercise stations. They were really cool. I would love it if we had things like that near our home. They were a fun way to keep yourself fit and limber.
On one side of Taylor's townhouse is a walkway. On the back side, there are these canals that separate the units. I guess you can reserve a boat and paddle around. We didn't see anyone using the boats. However, I loved this sunset one evening.
After we finished our foot massages, we walked to an international market. It was nice but very expensive. I would hate to have to shop there regularly. On the corner these people were dancing in a group outside on the street. Jen says they dance all the time. People just meet up and dance. Someone brings the music. We have seen similar groups exercising in the morning.
We had a marvelous time during our China visit. Jen was a wonderful tour and shopping guide. Taylor took us to fabulous restaurants. We loved being with June and Will and listening to them speak Chinese. Thank you both for your hospitality. We hope to return again soon.
