Korinne celebrated her birthday for a couple of weeks but we finally got to wish her Happy Birthday on her real birthday. She didn't request any special foods but we did our best to find some foods she would enjoy-homemade macaroni & cheese and southern green beens from our garden. We felt like we were straight out of Duck Dynasty with this meal.
She was excited to open her presents and happy with her new roller blades from her parents.
These next photos were taken the night prior to Thanksgiving as Heather's house as we gathered there with Hilary and Adam's family. Some kids were in potsticker heaven. We had to do easy foods as our culinary efforts were all focused on Thanksgiving preparations.
The next morning the cooks were busy again. We were really serious with those preparations for the Thanksgiving meal.
Adam started his rolls at Heather's house and rolled them out and baked them at Kathy's. I am using the last of our garden tomatoes for fresh salsa. It was really a hit this year.
Brinley was willing to put together our pints and I really appreciated her help. We had a skiff of snow the night before so some of the roads driving to Kathy and Brent's were slushy or slick but we were there in plenty of time to set out our appetizers. The farther south we drove, the deeper the snow was. The appetizers were so yummy that we were almost full before we started our real meal.
There was a lot of ad reading and football watching before dinner. The kids played in the garage with games and puzzles, etc.
Somehow these shots ended up in the middle of our dinner but they actually took place after dinner but before bowling. Brent was willing for some of the city kids to assist him in feeding his cows. Here's the group that trudged through the snow to participate.
Korinne was one of the kids who used the pitch fork to help with the hay.
Steve and Kathy's cousin, Janet and her friend Ros, joined us for dinner. We are hopeful that Janet can help us get more information about their grandfather, Dan Owen.
The next few pictures feature the crowd dishing up and digging in to all that great Thanksgiving food. Adam's rolls are still the #1 favorite food. Kathy's candies are probably second. The yams, dressing, salad's etc. are important but not on the top of anyone's list. And of course, there was turkey and ham.
Kathy pulled out her amazing candy after dinner. Somehow there's always room for a hand dipped chocolate!
