95 Celebrated His 95th!

95 family members gathered at Kelley's barn in Mapleton on Sat., April 11, 2009 to celebrate my dad's 95th birthday. Robert M. Kerr was born April 7, 1914. He's still pretty healthy and very sharp of mind. Here he prepares to blow out the candles on his cake. Dad loved having so many of his family members gather around for the festivities. Here he poses with four of his children--Cathy, Kristen, Greg and Steve. We missed Jackie who was unable to come from Idaho and Kelley who was on a business trip in China.

Two of his siblings, younger brother, Douglas and younger sister, Coral joined the fun. Greg and Steve stand next to their father.

We had a yummy brunch which included pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, juice, milk and this beautiful platter of fruit prepared by my sister Cathy. It was so inviting that I had to take a picture and share it with you. It was super awesome to have Tiffany and Abigail and Jen and her sister Jamie and girls available to celebrate the event. Thanks for coming girls!!! No one else traveled so far to get there-Tif from Texas and Jen from Shanghai, China. We also appreciated Hilary, Adam, Britton, Jenna and Korinne coming south to help us move and attend this special event.

Right after the party, Tiffany, Abigail, Steve and I headed for Idaho with the pickup truck and a trailer. We planned to celebrate Easter with Heather's family and bring back our table & chairs, Steve's desk, an antique chest, etc. from the storage unit there. I'll add some pictures of our Easter celebration. We were lucky to have another little egg hunt with Britton, Jenna, Korinne and Abigail on Monday night in the front yard of our new place. It's so awesome to have these activities with giggling, smiling grandkids! Even though we were exhausted from moving, partying and traveling, we loved it and volunteered to babysit while Tiffany, Hilary, Adam and his sister Kim enjoyed a Jazz game courtesy of one of Steve's dealers.

HERE WE GO AGAIN!

On Thurs., April 9, 2009, Tiffany, Steve, Abigail & I moved the office to the newly revised Harvest View abode. After some exasperation, the phone and internet service were installed with the correct numbers! On Friday, Hilary, Adam & Dustin joined us and helped us move the heavier furniture. We were so appreciative of their assistance. We had really done all we could without some additional muscle.

The angels from Wasatch Title, Kim and Mindie, arrived with a delicious lunch from Olive Garden. It provided a timely break and much needed shot of energy. Thanks to them for their thoughful and fun gesture. They do so much to assist me all year long with my real estate business. THEY ARE THE BEST!!!You can see from the photos that everyone enjoyed the abundance of good food!

Friday night, Hilary, Adam, Britton, Jenna, Korinne, Tiffany, Abigail, Steve and I all slept at the new house. There was room for all. HOORAY! Now visitors can come.

APRIL 6TH!!!

April 6th has special significance in our family. First of all we acknowledge this date as the actual birthday of our Savior. We also recognize its importance as the official date of the organization of Christ's restored church in the latter days on April 6, 1830.

We will add a few important events of our own. Steve and I were engaged to be married on April 6, 1970. We were listening to LDS Conference and having a picnic on a spot of rare green grass, when Steve produced a small box containing a ring and "popped" the question. We later realized that we were overlooking the city dump. It's kind of like life, you find a nice green spot to enjoy your picnic but a few "stinky realities" sometimes dampen things. We have always chosen to dwell on the green grass and not focus on the nearby dump. I guess you see what you choose to see. Well here it is 39 years later, and we're still forcusing on the green grass.

On April 6, 1996 Aaron M. asked our daughter, Heather, to marry him. She said "YES!"

This date is also Tricia & McKay's wedding anniversary. They were married in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple on April 6, 2000.

Our son-in-law Jeff was born on this day a mere 30 years ago. Congratulations, Jeff, you finally get to join the real grownups!

HAPPY FEET!!!

My feet are happy but I decided not to post the picture of them because, while they look much better since the pedicure, they are still UGLY! Anyway I started off the week with one of my favorite activities--I took my sister Cathy for a pedicure to celebrate her birthday. Of course, I get one too and we talk, laugh, cry and enjoy the massage chair and the pampering. My very rough feet always feel so much smoother and better. I LOVE PEDICURES!

Even better than pedicures are visits from my children and grandchildren. Tif and Tex arrived to a snowy week but we've bundled up and made the best of it--including a snowy drive up north for a day with Hilary and kids.

LDS Conference was awesome this weekend. One of my favorite quotes was this one from Pres. Thomas S. Monson..."the future is as bright as your faith." More on this later. The sun came out today and was much appreciated!!! Here are Tif, Steve and Abigail as we head out for a short walk.

A BIT PRECARIOUS!

Here Steve edges the vaulted ceiling in the new kitchen. I had to step away from steadying the stool for this photo. This is a demonstration of his diligence to get the job done. Surprised anyone?

Note the pendant lights over the breakfast bar. Steve always liked Kathy L's. We both love the additional light to the kitchen area.
Today we bid a sad farewell to our friends in the old ward. We realized that we are just one month short of eight years in that ward. That is more than double the time we'ved lived in any ward throughout our married life. No wonder it was so hard. They replaced Steve as gospel doctrine teacher with Dave Vicchrilli. They replaced me as choir director with Matt Anderson. Yes, Tif's high school friend. Both of these individuals will do an awesome job and will probably be considered improvements. This was a difficult goodbye for both of us.

ONE GREAT THING THAT HAPPENED TODAY

was the fact that we rented our current town house to a really cute couple. They came by tonight and signed the lease and gave us a partial deposit. They aren't moving in until April 24th so we have time to finish things at the new place and move! I think that it is going to turn out just perfect! Hooray! Hooray! We called our trip to Cafe Rio a celebration!

More painting and work tomorrow but for tonight, we're just celebrating and taking it easy.

What's Up?

It snowed throughout the day yesterday but fortunately it didn't stick on the roads. Our new tenant changed her mind yesterday too! That was discouraging. To make ourselves feel better we worked on the "new" place. Here is Steve concentrating on his travertine installation. I just painted in the closet. More snow in the forecast for tonight and Thursday. We need the moisture so I'm choosing to look on the bright side. The new term for that is "BRIGHTSIDING!"
