O Canada!

Our first Canadian Port was St. Johns, New Brunswick.  Here we rode a double decker pink bus on a tour around the city.  There were various beautiful old churches.
Here is a fort that overlooks the bay and was used as protection.
The old harbor buildings were renovated into a mall which included this library and a few shops.  There were enclosed bridges and and underground tunnels which connected another mall, a hotel, and a farmers market. It was designed to take you throughout the town all indoors.  Winters must be cold.
This beautiful replica of a tall sailing ship was in the newest mall.

Here was an elevated bandstand in the town square.  They used a ladder to climb up to the stand to perform at community events.

This museum store reminded me of the store at our local Pioneer Village.
Here is a double decker bus like the one we road.  It was built in the l960's in England.

These carved wood figures were near the store museum.  They marked an important corner in the history of the community.
Here is the pilot boat that escorted us out of the bay.  Eventually this boat came right up next to our ship and a local captain who guides us out of the bay, transfers from the ship to this boat.  Many ports require these pilot captains to board ships and assist in guiding the ship back out of the harbor.  Our captain stated they were the highest paid coffee drinkers he knew.  He was making fun of this requirement.
Here I am  on the St. Johns boardwalk with our ship in the background.
