Monday morning after a scrumptious pancake breakfast, it was time to clean up and leave. Everyone really pitched in to help with the clean up. We stripped beds, washed towels and sheets, vacuumed, and scrubbed until the whole house was cleaner than when we arrived. Steve and I really appreciated the way everyone helped out.
Some had plans to go to Lagoon but I think the constant rain that arrived put a damper on those plans. We were so grateful to have good weather for most of our gathering time.
Everyone gathered around for final instructions and a prayer together. Leaving was bittersweet for me. Fortunately many were around for additional activities during the next week which made it a little easier for me.
Our group back in CV just hung out for a few hours and unpacked and put things away. A group including Hilary's, Tiffany's and Libbie's families took advantage of a generous offer from our neighbor, Carrie, to have a tour of Napoleon Dynamite's town which is only 35-45 minutes north. They had a lot of fun and laughs as many of them are big fans of the movie and can quote and act out the parts.
Here Taylor's family loaded up for their trip back to SL. They are scheduled to fly back to China first thing in the morning. Libbie's family headed back there also to spend some time with Jeff's family who drove up from Vegas. I went back for a couple of days to take care of some business.
McKay's family chose to hang out in CV and relax. Rainy weather and Thomas not feeling well didn't allow for canyon hikes, but we went through boxes marked for various kids that were stored in the barn and babysit while Tricia and McKay connected with graduate school friends. They also had a chance to visit the temple, ride bikes, etc. One day, Steve and I joined McKay, Jessica and Cam for lunch at an El Salvadorean restaurant nearby. I didn't know it was there but it was fun to sample different ethnic food. Tricia got take out Salvadorean food as Thomas was under the weather.
One afternoon, we went to the county fair. This is always a favorite activity for Steve and I and we love having some kids and grandkids share it with us.
Steve especially enjoys checking out the equipment and the animal barns. We had time to see it all.
Friday evening, Heather's and Libbie's families joined us again as we celebrated Sadie's 8th birthday with pizza, cake and a piñata of course.
The neighbor kids were lined up eating ice cream and watching the piñata punch. Sometimes that happens when you have wide open yards.
