Reunion Sunday

Most of the group chose to pass up the 9 a.m. church option on Sunday, but a few sallied forth anyway.  Those who went at 11 got to listen to Britton play hymns on the piano or assist Jenna, Jen or Brinley with a puzzle of Nauvoo which was put together several times.

Cameron put together a lego-type version of the Nauvoo temple single handedly.  Congrats Cameron!

Kids played while adults visited and most of us fasted as sit was fast Sunday.  Of course that made everyone super hungry and eager to have a nice dinner.

The food crew kicked it into high gear after church.  Jeff did a fabulous job preparing the brussel sprouts.

Aaron grilled a million lbs of chicken which was quick marinaded in vinegar and salt.  That was a huge job on a smoky grill.  Thanks, Aaron.  Yummy when served with cheesy potatoes, various salads, fruit, rolls (Rhodes not Adam's) and to top it off Steve's sister, Kathy, joined us and brought two huge trays of goodies.

I know there were some brownies mixed in here but I didn't know what else she made.  I just know there was lots of yummy stuff with sugar, butter and chocolate.  No one complained that's for sure.

Kathy, Brent, Dustin, Larah, Cassidy, Parker, Cole and Oakley joined us for dinner and the afternoon.  It was so generous of them to not only bring treats but to take our family pictures too.  Herding cats would probably be easier but they did a great job and we really appreciate it.

After dinner, we all put on our family t-shirts for the photos.  The t-shirts had footprints on them to remind us of our heritage with ideas like "Faith in Every Footstep,"  "Follow the Prophet",  Be "True to the Faith That Our Parents Have Cherished," Plant Your Feet In Gospel Sod, or "Come Follow Me The Savior Said."

Our colors were definitely bright so some thought we looked like skittles.

After the pictures, the mothers all pitched in to help us make "footprint" blocks for a family quilt.  This was a bit messy but we managed to get a block from each grandchild without any serious consequences.

Steve suggested that we did this because we grew up in Blackfoot.  That is coincidental but kind of funny!

After we finished the footprint quilt blocks, we rolled out and cut the gingerbread cookie dough I had made ahead of time and cut out footprint cookies.  Each child got a chance to cut a footprint.  Some hung around to do more cutouts since they enjoyed it.

The adults gathered around and shared their ancestor stories.  We presented each family with two books.  One is the history of the Mormon Tabernacle and it's architect and building supervisor, our family ancestor, Henry Grow.  The other one is a book that Hilary spent many hours and several years researching and putting together of our ancestors Thomas and Mary Price from Wales.  Many thanks to Hilary for all of her hard work in our behalf.  We realize that we are the recipients of much sacrifice and suffering by our ancestors who joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in those early years.  We will honor them and their efforts by being "true to their faith."
