Today we had a regional conference for our church. We met in our regular chapel and watched a live stream from the Conference Center. It was an intimate setting with about 250 thousand people watching. Regardless, it was a powerful experience. Pres. David A. Beck made reference to the following video in his talk. Everyone should see this one. It really puts things into perspective.
All of the speakers were amazing but David A. Bednar, our presiding apostle, seemed to talk without notes or script. It is difficult to describe the experience. He talked about testimony and said that it is what we know to be true by the power of the Holy Ghost. He said in the world today testimony alone is not enough. Testimony is the beginning of our ongoing and ever deepening conversion to the Lord Jesus Christ. It should lead us to research, embrace and begin to take upon ourselves the character of Jesus Christ. He taught us how to look for the character of Jesus Christ in the scriptures and how to better understand it. The atonement of Christ provides us with the spiritual strength and capacity to turn outward to minister to others even when we ourselves have need of being administered to.
He encouraged us to pray for the strength that comes only through Christ and His atonement. Often the burdens we bear are intended to teach us lessons that we can learn in no other way. We all need Christ's atonement to strengthen us. For all things are possible through Christ.
His admonitions were spiritually uplifting, strengthening and motivating. This synopsis is so inadequate to convey the depth of his message. I wish you could have been here with us to share in this spiritual feast.
