For many years one or more of our children have run in the Fun Run prior to the 4th of July parade in our little community. This year our family entrants traveled from afar. Taylor came from China and Tiffany and Abigail dropped by from Texas. It was fun once again, to have some runners to cheer for. Abigail has been waiting for a year for this opportunity. She watched Benson run last year and thought that would be a great thing to do.
Unfortunately, Taylor's chronic calf injury started acting up fairly early in the race so rather than cause more injury, he stepped aside and gave the opportunity to others.
Will was happy to be back with his dad and share his fruit bar.
After Tiffany finished her own race, she ran another mile with Abigail. They both did a great job. We were very pleased with their accomplishment.
Here are our stars on the 4th of July!
The kids were happy with their patriotic clothing. Aren't they cute!
I loved seeing a lot of flags waiving and patriotic t-shirts. This is my kind of day. We didn't stick around for much of the parade this year as we were eager to finish packing up all our food and gear so we could drive north to the cabin we had rented for a family gathering. It was pretty quiet as only a few of us were around for the first night there. Taylor, Jen, Will and June and Tiffany, Shawn and Abigail hung out with us the night of the 4th. We skipped the fireworks and went to bed pretty early. We loved the log cabin and the mountain air.
